I have now been using Chrome for almost 12hrs I have some very great things to say about it, but there are also small bugs to report. First off I must say I love the look, simple, gives me plenty of viewing space even on lower resolutions, it’s almost like hitting F11 in Firefox but permanently yet not nearly as annoying. Bookmark system is simple and keeps to what you’re used to for Google bookmarks.

Things I found a bit odd, well the oddest one has to be Create application shortcuts. I am not sure who this is fooling but this is simply a shortcut to url you could always do this they just gave it a fancier name and put emphasis on the fact that you can do it simply. I found that there are a few things that didn’t work if I set Chrome to my default browser. The Google desktop search function that you open with Ctrl x 2, launches a Google search. But if Chrome was my default browser it wasn’t handling the command line parameters sent to it properly and my search never happened just blank pages.

Now on to things I have found to be very great. I work on sites with a lot of JavaScript and many layers and on my slower computer I could see a very big difference in page load times on the client side. Things appeared on screen much more smoothly. I haven’t had a tab crash on my yet so I can’t say anything about the task manager system yet. Most features are pretty standard in most browsers. The popup blocker is seamless and lets you access the blocked windows with a lot of ease, can’t really even compare to anything that’s how simple it was for me.

So in my conclusion of my first 12hrs… It’s too stable to review its recovery features, it outperformed other browsers on slower computers for me (I can’t see a difference on my high end gaming machine as they all work pretty flawlessly there). Features are nice and tightly packed with absolutely no wasted space. I personally love this browser and plan on keeping using it. I almost forgot to mention this, I work on at least 10 different sites and I didn’t have to adjust any of the CSS or HTML for any of the sites to work SO THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I was quite afraid when I heard this coming out.

As you may have read in the blogosphere, we hit “send” a bit early on a comic book introducing our new open source browser, Google Chrome. We will be launching the beta version of Google Chrome tomorrow in more than 100 countries.

CBS is reporting:

“The browser, of course, will integrate various Google services in it, something that rivals has accused Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) of doing over the years when invoking the monopoly claims against the software giant. ”

Google stabilized the browser even more by adding in processes for each tab and additional threading to handle potential browser lockups so that they only shut down a tab instead of the whole app.

Google designed this to run web applications faster and easier than other browsers.

Making sure that the browser passes muster rendering large portions of the internet. Google is boasting a 99% compliance with browsing standards.

-Tab Specific Pop-Up Control

See what you’re doing by confining pop-ups and pop-unders to their own place on the bottom of the tab.

-Public Phishing API

Google is making their blacklist of harmful sites freely available to anyone. The list is downloaded to the browser on a regular basis.

-Google Gears Integration

Access your application data (like GMail and Google Docs) offline!

-Simplified Interface

Very iconic and easy to use. Should be a great app for beginning users as well as advanced users looking to do away with the more complex UIs.

-Tabs On Top

Chrome puts the traditional tabs that were under the main window on top.

-Better Memory Management

With the multiple tab processing, memory fragmentation is reduced over time, allowing the browser to remain fast.

-The Omnibar

The address bar doubles as a search and suggestion bar for each tab.

-Speed Dial Page

Similar to Opera, this page features 9 of your most visited websites and several most searched websites.

-Privacy Mode

For you know, really specific browsing late at night.

-Enhanced Browser Security

Processes attempting to access information outside of the browser are confined and jailed.

-Seperate Plugin Processing

Plugins operate independently, making sure that an errant plugin doesn’t crash the browser.

-Open Source Browser

Google is inviting everyone to take advantage of the browser features they are introducing with fully open code

The Mountain View-based company unveiled a free service Tuesday in which three-dimensional software enables people to congregate in electronic rooms and other computer-manufactured versions of real life. The service, called “Lively,” represents Google’s answer to a 5-year-old site, Second Life, where people deploy animated alter egos known as avatars to navigate through virtual reality.

I tried Second Life a year or so ago. I didn’t really get into it. To interface for me was too complicated for the time i had to learn it witch made me uninstall it after 20 minutes. I haven’t tried Lively since it doesn’t support mac. If i have time i will try it tonight on my dell.

This week Google released its voice recognition system to Canada. Google now helps you find the closest business to you by category or with the business name and connects you to them. Providing you with multiple options of course just like a Google search.

I tried the system and i was very impressed the 3 times i tried it i got the correct business on the first try. Now if it wasn’t enough with smart phones that you could use Google with GPS options now you can use it from anywhere with voice recognition system.

Google’s utter domination of helping people is just becoming quite overwhelming; i asked my 4 year old nephew if he knew what kind of fish a salmon was he told me to Google-it.
