Comedy Central vs Youtube

July 4, 2008 – 8:48 am

A lot of news recently has spread up about the lawsuit led by Comedy Central vs Youtube for 1 billion dollars in damage. If you want facts on this suit there’s a million news ads you can check up on it I am going to give my opinion on this and why I think Comedy Central should be the ones paying Youtube and not the other way around and why I think Comedy Central is actually hurting the comedians it says to be sponsoring.

I have been a big fan of the comedy section on Youtube, I personally don’t get Comedy Central at home and I don’t have anywhere else I can get comedy from the comedians I love on demand. I have learned about at least 10 comedians that i would never have heard about because of Youtube. I have even bought tickets to see shows of comedians I had only seen on Youtube. Youtube is giving these guys free exposure and not just a 15mins of fame. Some have close or over a million views!!! Comedy Central thinks they should get paid for damages when really Ithink Youtube should be paid for giving them this chance of a life time, the extra air time these great comedians would never have received.

Comedy Central should be ashamed that there doing everything they can to hide their great comedians from us. You want us to go to your site instead to watch stuff? Don’t you understand that you could host your videos on Youtube, show them on comedycentral.com via a simple embed link and put advertisement on your site and you could probably rack up a few 1000$ a day very easily. But no instead try to fight to get the videos off the internet, great job guys keep the intelligence flowing.
